The Program

The Foundation primarily focuses its efforts on program development related to recreational therapy, awareness, education, outreach, and prevention.  We aim to immerse veterans in healthy activities that take place in a supportive team environment to facilitate establishing relationships that foster camaraderie and a sense of belonging.

We provide lifetime support to military veterans by helping return them to a supportive team environment through therapeutic recreational programs and activities. The sport of ice hockey represents our core program and is free for veterans at all skating levels.  However, we offer our veterans more than just hockey…we’ll support just about any recreational activity that veterans want to participate in together, whether it be axe throwing, kayaking, or a Spartan race. The idea is to promote community, connection, and camaraderie.

The hockey program is augmented by other key program components designed to contribute to a veterans’ sense of belongingness while connecting them to community resources, providing educational workshops and offering wellness events and retreats.

By getting veterans on the ice (or off the ice) with their peers, we hope to be able to detect and successfully deal with signs of suicide.  The outreach component of our program serves to increase public awareness of the statistically significant rate of suicides among our military veterans.
